Board Member Profile: William S. Helmly
|
William Helmly currently serves as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Home Telephone Company, an independent telephone, cable television, and Internet service provider in South Carolina. Prior to becoming President, Mr. Helmly has served in a variety of capacities, including Vice President of Engineering and most recently Executive Vice President. During his tenure, Mr. Helmly has been responsible for research, development, and implementation of new technologies, product lines, and services as well as development and implementation of product, technology, and business strategies.
He is a member of the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Telephone Association, PalmettoNet, and Pond Branch Telephone Company. Mr. Helmly is actively involved in civic and community organization. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Berkeley County Foundation for Education, Trident United Way, as a trustee for the Trident Technical College Foundation. Mr. Helmly is also active with the Habitat for Humanity, The Coastal Community Foundation, Moncks Corner Rotary Club, and is a member of the Moncks Corner United Methodist Church.
Mr. Helmly is married to Alice Helmly and they have three children: Phallan, Travus, and Preston.
Mr. Helmly holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.
