News: Spend an Evening with USC Head Football Coach Lou Holtz

MONCKS CORNER, S.C.---University of South Carolina head football coach Lou Holtz will be the guest speaker at a June 11 fund-raiser to benefit the Berkeley County Foundation for Education. The 6 p.m. event will be held at the Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner.
"We are thrilled to have coach Holtz coming to Berkeley County," said John West, Foundation chairman. "He is one of the most sought after, entertaining and dynamic motivational speakers in America. Coach Holtz believes in what our organization is all about: character building, academic excellence and the general betterment of public education. It is quite an honor to have him. We are in for a treat."
Ticket distribution sites will be announced later. Ticket prices will be $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets will also be for sale at the park gate on the date of the event. The Foundation will be seeking corporate and individual sponsorships and selling general admission tickets.
The Berkeley County Foundation for Education is a nonprofit corporation formed in August 2000 to receive, manage and distribute monies in aid of public education. All proceeds from the June 11 event will support the Foundation’s efforts in Berkeley County.
Said West, "Coach Holtz brings a wholesome message. It will be a great family outing. We encourage folks to get their tickets early. We anticipate a lot of excitement and a big turnout."
Holtz' 2000 Gamecocks recorded the second biggest turnaround in NCAA Division I history. The team went from a record of 0-11 in 1999 to 8-4, capped by a 24-7 Outback Bowl victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes on New Year’s Day.
